About Laura Downs

     Laura Downs comes from a very musical family.  Her father was a piano teacher with a master's degree.  Her studio, Up'n Down Tempos in Orange City, Florida has been open since 1987.

     Laura studied at the Orlando School of Music.  She holds an Associate Degree in Science.  The lessons provide students with a solid base in music theory and prepares them to pick up any other instrument and understand it.  Instruction includes study of scales, chords, and improvisation.

     Age is no barrier to learning the piano.  Laura has been successful in teaching children three years old and older adults all the way up to 80 years old.  She hosts two recitals a year.  The recitals offer students an opportunity to build self-confidence and demonstrate their progression.  Laura believes in putting the love of music into her students.
